Account Executive — Utility RevOps
Show student housing, multifamily, and SFH operators that utility operations don't have to stay outsourced. Not a pitch — a business case they can act on.
The Role
Most student housing, multifamily, and SFH operators hand utility operations to a third party and never look back. We're building the category that gives them another option — Utility RevOps — and you'll be the one introducing it.
This is a consultative sale, not a transactional one. Bringing utilities in-house touches multiple departments, existing staffing, established workflows, and systems people have used for years. It deserves real planning, and sometimes the honest answer is "not yet."
You'll be measured on whether operators trust you to guide that decision — not on how fast you can get through a deck.
What You'll Do
- →Build relationships with owners, operators, and decision-makers across student housing, multifamily, and SFH portfolios
- →Teach the market what Utility RevOps is and why bringing utilities in-house is worth evaluating
- →Lead honest conversations about utility revenue, vendor spend, staffing, technology, workflows, and organizational readiness
- →Build business cases grounded in control, financial performance, visibility, and resident experience
- →Navigate multi-stakeholder decisions with patience and disciplined follow-through
- →Show up at apartment associations, conferences, and trade shows as a participant — not someone collecting badges
- →Run tailored demos built around each portfolio's actual operations
- →Own your pipeline forecast and your number
- →Bring what you hear in the market back to product, marketing, and leadership
What We're Looking For
- →Sales experience in proptech, property management software, utility management, or something close
- →Familiarity with student housing, multifamily, or SFH operations — and what it actually takes to switch vendors and workflows
- →You're active in local, state, or national housing associations — or genuinely want to be
- →You've run consultative sales cycles with multiple stakeholders
- →You can talk revenue, operating expense, vendor spend, staffing, and ROI without hand-waving
- →You stay valuable when the timeline slips past this quarter
- →You teach rather than pressure, and you make complicated operational ideas land
- →You're comfortable working independently somewhere that's still figuring things out
- →You're willing to travel for association meetings, conferences, and operator visits
How We Sell
We're not trying to push operators toward an answer we've already picked. We're trying to help them make an informed one.
That means asking questions before recommending anything, respecting the operating model someone already has, looking at the whole business instead of just the software line item, and building business cases that hold up under scrutiny. It means recognizing that "not yet" is sometimes correct — and staying useful anyway.
Every operator who meets with us should leave understanding their own utility operations better than when they walked in, whether or not they ever sign with us.
Who Will Thrive Here
Someone who wants to build real expertise, real industry relationships, and help define a category that doesn't fully exist yet.
You'll do well here if you're energized by opening doors, asking sharp questions, and sitting in conversations where the answer isn't obvious — confident enough to guide an operator without forcing the outcome. It's a strong fit for an emerging sales professional who'd rather grow into a trusted advisor than run someone else's script.
